Individual Round: An individual 60-minute round consisting of 30 challenging problems.
Speed Round: A fast-paced, 20-minute round where competitors attempt to solve 80 fast and easy problems.
Team Round: A team-based 30-minute round where teams of up to four competitors work together to solve 16 challenging problems.
Elimination Round: A fast-paced, individual competition where the top 8 highest-scoring competitors face off in a single-elimination bracket.
Math Bowl: A fast-paced head-to-head team competition where teams of up to four competitors buzz in to solve a series of problems.

Q: What is TMT?
A: TMT, or the Tennessee Math Tournament, is Tennessee’s first state-wide student-led team and individual math competition. The event organization and problem-writing were all completed by top math students who are passionate about spreading their love for the subject with others. With this competition, we are seeking to introduce people to competition math as well as recognize those who are already some of the best in their region.
Q: When is TMT going to be hosted?
A: The competition will be hosted on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 9:00 to 3:45. However, you must register earlier.
Q: When is the registration deadline for TMT?
A: You must register for the competition by Saturday, March 19, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. CT.
Q: Where is TMT going to be hosted?
A: The whole competition will be held at Adventure Science Center (800 Fort Negley Blvd, Nashville, TN 37203).
Q: How is the competition organized?
A: The tournament consists of an individual round, speed round, team round, elimination round, and math bowl.
Individual Round
An individual 60-minute exam consisting of challenging problems in various areas of mathematics, including number theory, combinatorics, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. No calculators are allowed.
Speed Round
A fast-paced individual 20-minute exam where competitors attempt to solve 80 fast and easy problems.
Team Round
A team-based 30-minute exam where teams of up to four competitors work together to solve 15 challenging problems.
Elimination Round
A fast-paced, individual competition where the top 12 highest-scoring competitors face off in a single-elimination bracket.
Math Bowl
A fast-paced head-to-head team competition where teams of up to four competitors buzz in to solve a series of mathematical problems.
Q: How many people are there on each team?
A: At most 4 people
Q: Are there any requirements for me to attend?
A: No! Students of all math levels and locations are welcome to attend.
Q: How difficult is the exam?
A: The competition is tailored to students of all levels of experience with mathematics. The problem difficulty will range from early AMC 8 to late AIME.
Q: How much does it cost to attend?
A: In person: $15 per competitor
Q: May I participate without a team?
A: Yes, you can apply only as an individual competitor.
